Park MapPerth's outdoor classroom
For two decades, Burswood Park has delivered on-site training and practical experience for students - in the fields of horticulture, irrigation, landscape architecture and design.
Headed by Burswood Park Board's Operations Manager Sam Franco, students enjoy hands-on workshop activities ranging from grass establishment and maintenance, machinery operation and maintenance, irrigation installation and maintenance, tree/shrub planting and care, as well as environmental sustainability, chemical and fertiliser use, mulching, and water efficiency.
The students range from young apprentices to representatives from local and state government (including Kings Park Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority and the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board).
Students and their lecturers have acknowledged the tremendous contribution Burswood Park provides to industry development by continuing to promote ongoing work experience programs.
