Personal gatherings at Burswood Park

We welcome families, friends and community groups to enjoy Burswood Park for informal, personal gatherings. While bookings are not required for casual use, all visitors must follow the guidelines below to help protect the Park and ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for everyone.

Guidelines for personal gatherings

  • BBQs, gazebos and picnic areas are available on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved.
  • Personal BBQs (gas, coal or wood) are not permitted.
  • No areas may be sectioned-off using ropes, signage or other barriers.
  • No temporary structures may be installed, including but not limited to marquees or pop-up gazebos, inflatable play zones such as bouncy castles or obstacle courses, and other similar structures.
  • Commercial entertainment or activities are not permitted, including petting zoos or animal encounters, face painting or glitter stations, or other services provided by paid operators.
  • Be considerate of other Park users - gatherings must not disrupt the public or block access to shared spaces.
  • Avoid setting up near the Principal Shared Pathways (PSPs). Burswood Park has two PSPs - one designed for fast-moving cyclists and e-transport riders, and another for recreational cyclists, pedestrians and wheelchair users. To maintain safe access and avoid disruption, personal gatherings must not be located immediately adjacent to either pathway.
  • Power is not available and generators must not be used.
  • Vehicles are not permitted within the Park. All equipment must be carried or walked in.
  • Alcohol is not permitted. Under WA law, drinking in public places, including parks, is prohibited unless approved by the landowner or managing authority. Penalties apply.
  • Catered functions by private caterers are not permitted.
  • Balloons are not permitted. While WA law bans the release of gas-filled balloons, all balloons pose a risk to local wildlife and waterways if they burst or are littered. To protect the environment, Burswood Park Board prohibits all balloon use.

Liability

Burswood Park Board is not responsible for any personal injury or damage caused by guests. Responsibility remains with the individual or group hosting the gathering.
