Karla Bidi at Burswood Park

This Perth Festival season, Burswood Park is proud to host one of the stunning Karla Bidi installations – a beacon of light, storytelling, and connection.

Inspired by the Noongar tradition of lighting fires to greet and guide visitors, Karla Bidi (meaning Fire Trail) transforms the rivers of Perth into an illuminated pathway. From the hills of Mandoon/Guildford to the sea at Walyalup/Fremantle, 11 glowing beacons invite residents and visitors to gather under the stars for a free, open‑air sound and light experience.

At Burswood Park, you’ll discover one of these beacons – created by First Nations artists Ilona McGuire, Jacob Nash, Chloe Ogilvie, and Ian Moopa Wilkes – where the sounds and stories of the stars will gently touch hearts and spark reflection.
