Burswood Park is home to a unique collection of bronze sculptures, designed and produced by artists Joan and Charles Smith and acquired between 1989 and 2002.
Essentially a celebration of Perth's historical figures, these works of art have been lovingly created in great tradition of classical figurative sculpture and stand as a commemoration to those who built the community.
The collection is acclaimed as a significant body of artworks, with the sculptures' unique placement throughout the park and along the river foreshore reminiscent of many popular sculpture gardens found in European cities.
The heritage trail showcases more than a dozen bronze sculptures and other public works and landmarks, and takes around 45 minutes to complete. The trail meanders through the park, taking the visitor on a walk and narrative full of discovery and inviting participation.
It is an easy walk and fully accessible. Start from the Tourism Council of WA office, located at 1 Resort Drive in Burswood Park.
